First Blood Recipient — dash, projectiles, and Focus windows.
The Beast is the first Blood Recipient most players meet in the free Steam demo — the fight where Focus / Marks / Critical Thrust become muscle memory. Practical arena notes, not a lore essay. Verified July 25, 2026.
Demo footage and previews converge on three recurring tools. Learn them as answers, not as a script you recite from memory.

| Attack | Tell / feel | Preferred answer |
|---|---|---|
| Dash | Sudden close | Dodge through → Focus on recovery |
| Projectile | Ranged chip | Strafe or Perfect Dodge if late |
| Homing | Tracks Ruby | Perfect Dodge on impact |
| Extended string | No quiet gap | Perfect Dodge Marks · delay Focus |
The dash deletes comfortable mid-range spacing. Players who try to Focus forever from across the arena get clipped mid-read. Answer: Perfect Dodge or clear the dash, then Focus during the recovery — that recovery is your first reliable Mark window.
Ranged projectiles punish camping one corner. Stay mobile between Focus holds. You do not need to Perfect Dodge every projectile if you can walk the safe lane, but if a shot is about to connect, treat it as Mark practice.
The homing attack tracks Ruby instead of a fixed line. Walking away early often still gets clipped. Perfect Dodge on arrival is the clean answer — and the best drill for the Mark bonus. If you only learn one Perfect Dodge on this boss, learn this one.
The Pure Blood Crystal is the real health bar. Marks and Critical Thrusts into the crystal are how the fight ends. Light attacks between windows keep you honest about spacing; they are not a backup DPS plan.
Win condition: leave with a shattered crystal and enough Blood Dust to buy your first meaningful Talisman — not a no-hit badge on attempt one.
Do not greed three Marks immediately. Land one Perfect Dodge, bank one Focus Mark on a dash recovery, Critical Thrust at two Marks, then reset. Prove the loop before you invent a speedrun.
After a dash, The Beast often gives a short plant window. Step in (observation fills faster up close), hold Focus, and decide: release at two Marks if pressure returns, or greed three if the next pattern is one you already Perfect Dodge cleanly.
A hit wipes Focus charge. Stop panic-swinging. Create space, Perfect Dodge the next readable attack, then rebuild Marks. The Beast is designed so a clean reset still finishes the fight — tilting into light-attack DPS is how demo runs stall.
Even if you die, pushing The Beast toward half health pays Blood Dust you keep. Treat failed attempts as funded practice for Wichiwi, not wasted time. Details: Blood Dust.
Beating The Beast unlocks the next demo beat and Hub conversations that explain Talismans, Blood Dust spending, and the wider revenge path.
Talk to Roy and Wichiwi. Equip your first Talisman instead of hoarding Dust "for later." The next fight — Guardian Faye — is a rhythm exam; a small defensive or Focus-friendly Talisman helps more than an empty pouch.
If Perfect Dodges already feel natural, bias toward Mark-greed setups on Builds. If you still early-roll, pick safer Focus windows and stay humble until Faye's phases click.
Treat learning the beast Rubinite fight like a lab notebook. After each death, write one line before you requeue.
Which attack killed you, whether Focus charge was live, how many Marks you held, and whether the dodge was early. That single line prevents repeating the same early roll ten times.
Attempt A: land three Perfect Dodges on homing. Attempt B: two-Mark Thrust after dash recovery. Attempt C: half-health Dust secured. Attempt D: clear. Separating goals stops "must clear now" tilt.
If two attempts in a row die to the same early roll, return to Hub, spend Dust, stretch, then come back. The Beast is a teacher — do not turn it into a rage statue.
Once the basics of the beast Rubinite fight click, these notes shave deaths without requiring frame-perfect fantasy.
Pick a side of the arena and commit to it for a projectile volley instead of weaving randomly. Random weaving creates Focus cancels when a shot clips you mid-read.
Commit to the Perfect Dodge early enough to move, late enough to hit Perfect timing. Walking away first then dodging late is how people get clipped twice.
After a Critical Thrust, Ruby is not automatically safe. Plan the exit spacing before you spend Marks, especially if a dash is due.
On tilt nights, play Beast only until half health payout, cash out, and stop. That still progresses Blood Dust and keeps the teacher fight useful.
The Beast is forgiving enough to learn on and honest enough to punish real mistakes. That combination is why the demo opens here.
If you skip Beast mastery and jump to harder Recipients, you will relearn the same lessons under worse lighting.
Dash, projectile, and homing cover spacing, lanes, and tracking — the three basic ways bosses deny Focus.
Mastering those three answers transfers to almost every later arena even when animations change.
Half-health payouts make Beast a Dust classroom. Failed attempts still buy Talismans for Faye.
Use that intentionally on learning nights instead of treating deaths as pure loss.
Come back to Beast for Perfect Dodge warm-ups before any hard boss session.
Five clean homing Perfect Dodges is a better warm-up than jumping cold into a new nightmare.

You are probably holding Focus from too far away or during unsafe dash pressure. Close in on recoveries; observation fills faster near the boss.
